Aphnetworks : M12D-850W
We visited many power supply companies during the past year, and many of them have commented, "the power supply market is dead -- there's nothing new that can be done to attract more customers." That's not entirely wrong, as PSUs are one of the components most people only think about when their old unit fails, or when building a new system. However, it's still important for power supply companies to research new technologies and features, especially if they want to stand out from the crowd. The most recent feature to make its way onto the scene is DC-to-DC technology, with several companies now sporting high-end PSUs that use it. For example, we have the previously tested Enermax Revolution 85+, Silverstone's Zeus 1200W, and Antec's Signature Series.

Hardly a day goes by that someone doesn't ask us if this PSU or that PSU will drive a system. Often the choices made are more based on price and bling than the actual quality of the PSU. Price and Bling are two of the last things you should look at when it comes to PSU. Having been in the computer business for as long as computers have been around I've seen almost every PSU horror story play out that you can imagine.

Aphnetworks : M12D-850W
Recently, a lot of fantastic units have been coming out around the 850W mark. Case in point, the Antec Signature 850W and the Corsair TX850 I reviewed last week. Now, Seasonic has decided they want into this market, and have sent me the brand new M12D 850W as proof of how serious they are about it. Let's get started with a few of the usual box pictures, and then we'll let my SM-268 load tester find out how serious Seasonic really is.

Aphnetworks : M12D-850W
Seasonic, one of the most popular PSU brands for quiet computing, has been slow to join the power race that's been raging for the last couple of years. While competing brands, both old and new, began releasing kilowatt PSUs as far back as two years ago, Seasonic has soldiered on with lower rated models, for its own brand as well as for its OEM lines, such those for Corsair and Antec. Prior to the newly announced M12D series, the most powerful model in Seasonic's stable was the M12-700W, released in late 2006.

Aphnetworks : M12-700W
Well today I will be reviewing a 700W power supply from a company you all should know by now.  It’s from a company that I’ve said is among the best in the industry and kick started the 80PLUS program mainstream. I remember I reviewed the old SS-300 and SS-400 power supplies from Seasonic a few years back and while…..

One of the most important PC components is the power supply. Without a good quality power supply putting out enough clean power to power your high end video card and quad core CPU, you would be stuck with a pile of useless parts. Today’s power supply’s have a lot of shoes to fill…..

Aphnetworks : S12-650W
The culmination of over 30 years of leading edge power supply design and production expertise enabled Seasonic to be the first power supply manufacturer to receive the coveted "80 Plus" certificate in the United States.  Now this "80 Plus" certified high efficiency power supply is available to the general market in two models, the S12 Energy+550 and the S12 Energy+650.

Aphnetworks : M12II-500W
Seasonic's M12II 500w sets a high standard for power supplies. Its target market is gamers, and the look and style of the unit would fit well in any case with a window. It has sheathed modular cables, which cause less of a mess when installed in a case. As a power supply, the M12II performed well and was very quiet.
